Are ticks still active in the Fall? The short answer: Yes.!Ticks remain a threat all year long. The blacklegged deer tick becomes especially active during the fall months due to its lifecycle (Plunkett’s Pest Control). Building on the May presentation, our very own Deb Avalone-King (co-host of Lyme I) will be continuing the online discussion and teaching on the topic of Lyme disease in Maine. During her career as an Environmental Specialist/Educator Deb earned a MEd in Science Education from UMaine and worked with teachers across the state to integrate environmental science enrich-ment experiences into their school curricula. Deb coordinat-ed a wide variety of outreach projects that included teacher training projects and conferences, as well as Environmental Internship programs where HS and College students gained personal experiences working with community organizations. Deb has been recognized for her contributions to MaineEnvironmental Education by the Maine Science Teachers Association, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Maine Chapter of the Sierra Club.

In May we produced a presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Yori, ND on the ever present threat of Lyme disease in Maine. Here is one attendee’s comments: “My gratitude and sincere appre-ciation to Dr. Elizabeth Yori. Dr. Yori’s knowledge and experi-ence in treating Lyme disease are extraordinary. She de-serves a radio, media, and television segment to share with the community all her one-of-a-kind, caring, and effective treatments. I am sharing with my friends, co-workers, and family the information in this video. To prevent, treat, and use the tick removal techniques and find the right way to understand Lyme disease. Thank you all for all your excellent work developing this video.” We are offeringa link to those who missed this awesome presentation.
